I started to take lessons from a trainer that needed stable help. We bartered my time for lessons. Once I developed my riding skills, we developed and sold horses for the show ring. I was able to keep a horse of my own and still earn money on the side for expenses. Perhaps you can work out something similar. It will be well worth it.
